Parque de Lisboa news 8

Welcome to our eighth program. Today we are going to talk about dangerous floods in Ciudad Real and Andalusia, and the book Bajo la fría luz de octubre as our literary recommendation. We are going to finish with our interesting weekly question. But first,

DANGER OF FLOODS IN CIUDAD REAL.
I'm from La Solana, a village in Ciudad Real. Recently, I've heard that Azuer river is endangering Membrilla, Manzanares and San Carlos del Valle, that are very close to my village. The authorities had let the water flow from Puerto Hermoso reservoir in anticipation of the rain that was expected and that has finally arrived. But even so the area is in great danger of flooding. (By Rosa Mª Labián).
FLOODS IN THE SOUTH OF SPAIN.
This February in the south of Spain in the Andalusian community there has been much rain, causing floodings in every province. In the Andalusian community there had been unexpected storms, overflowing rivers and floodings in low houses that have destroyed the houses inside and also outside. The cars could not be used as the streets were flooded. The communication was interrupted in some places and the inhabitants had to survive with what they had at the time because going outside was dangerous. Schools and colleges were closed. Emergency services had to work 24 hours a day since their collaboration was very important at the time. Andalusia has suffered much damage by heavy rains this month. (Vanessa Sánchez)

THIS WEEK'S BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Bajo la fría luz de octubre.
Its author is Eloy M. Cebrián. The book spans from the moment in wich the Republic is restored until the end of the Spanish Civil War. The story deals with the life of a girl named Juana. She has lived this period in a Republican family. Juana tells all the hardships they had to undergo. I recommend this book because it helped me understand and learn very much about this period. It is written in a very simple and clear style. This book is written in the first person and draws you deeper and deeper into the story. It received the Jaén prize for Literature for children and teenagers. (Natalia González Tajuelo).

To end our program, we are going to give you our weekly question, but, before that, the answer to our previous question "What's the name of the Spanish Prime Minister?" was... José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero! This week we want you to leave comments answering this question: What's the capital of the United Kingdom? Thank you very much for your kind attention. We'll meet again next week.

The capital of United Kingdom was London. I think that the text of Ciudad Real an Andalucia was very dangerous for the villages because the people didn´t go to the school and dind´t go to another city etc.
